Title: Numerical simulation of black hole accretion and outflow

Speaker: Prof. Feng Yuan, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory

Location: Room 111, Physics Building

Time: 15:00-16:00,Wed, Dec. 20, 2017

Abstract:

Black hole accretion is a fundamental physical process in the universe. It plays an important role in many fields of astrophysics, including active galactic nuclei, black hole X-ray binaries, Gamma-ray bursts, and tidal disruption events. Many important progresses have been made in recent years, mainly attributed to the rapid development of numerical simulations. In this talk, I will first give a general introduction to accretion, then I will talk about three hot topics in this field: 1) wind from hot accretion flow; 2) jet formation; 3) super-Eddington accretion.
